Custom

Over thirty-five years have gone by since its introduction, but the Moto Guzzi California continues to play a leading role in the collective imagination of motorcyclists all over the world. When the California was first introduced back in 1971, the market for customs was split between original motorcycles and Japanese imitations. But then Moto Guzzi introduced a machine with a powerful personality, based on the tried and tested frame of the V7 Special and the legendary 90° V twin engine, with a capacity of 757 cc. This frame/engine combination proved such a tremendous international success that it was eagerly adopted by the L.A.P.D. (Los Angeles Police Department), and later by police departments in other American States. The rest is history – and legend. A familiar protagonist in films and advertisements, the California has every right to be considered as one of the few objects of industrial design that have left a permanent mark. The California’s wheels have never stopped, and neither has its development. Year after year, the bike’s looks and technology have been updated without altering its original character and spirit. Now, 35 years after its introduction, Moto Guzzi has decided to pay tribute to the amazing California by creating an exclusive Vintage version, dedicated to modern riders who want to continue the dream. The styling is obviously retro, as you can see from the stunning spoked wheels, redesigned steel mudguards, new Brembo front calipers, supplementary fog lights controlled from the right hand switch block, windshield with stainless steel trim, shiny chrome handlebars and two-tone seat. The fixed panniers are a further sign of distinction. Made from rotational nylon, they are fully waterproof with inner linings, and are protected against impact by robust chromed steel tube of the same type used for the luggage rack.

Naked

Moto Guzzi have been building V twin naked bikes since 1967. Starting with the V7 in the golden ages, Moto Guzzi continues to carry that tradition in style. The brainchild of Giulio Cesare Carcano, the V7 made its debut with a 2-clylinder 90° V-twin mounted across the frame and a cylinder capacity of 703cc, a record for the time. The bike was an immediate success with both press and public, and the V7 helped make Moto Guzzi’s name throughout the world, as a producer of prestigious, comfortable, elegant and reliable motorcycles. For many owners it was the expression of an important part of their lives, youthful memories of carefree times, trips with friends, in a resplendent historical period for the brand. Forty years later, this positive heritage, in combination with the current full-blown relaunch of the brand, is the inspiration behind the new V7 Classic. A bike with a strong character, which derives from the interpretation of a concept of essential beauty, hailing to the style of the original V7, but with all the modern technology that the legendary ancestor could never have. Modern technical equipment, chassis and a Euro3 750cc engine, the line of the fuel tank hails to the old V7 Classic, running narrow and streamlined along the tubes of the frame to meet the seat, perfectly flat and mounted solid with the rear mudguard. The storage compartments on the sides blend into the style of the famous ancestor, with the same side view. The charm of the V7 Classic is also expressed by the bright chrome work, such as on the exhaust pipes, the shock absorbers, the rear light, the fuel cap, the front light, the comfortable handlebars and the surround of the speedometer and rev counter. But if you feel like 750cc is not enough, then you’ll have a option with the Griso! “His power became greater in reality and in the minds of others.” This is a description of ‘Griso’, a character in ‘I promessi sposi’ by Alessandro Manzoni, one of the most famous works of Italian literature. In the book, Griso is a tough and fearless leader of the Bravi, and a man “who naturally undertook all the most daring enterprises”. This description could just as well be applied to the new Griso 8V, the most exciting and spirited of all Moto Guzzi models, designed to create a new, more intense concept of sports riding based on sheer power and four valve cylinder head technology. Designed to respect a tradition that has lasted forty years, the new engine adopts the rational 90° transverse V twin layout but with 563 new parts, and introduces for the first time single overhead cam valve timing and silent running Morse chains to operate the four valves per cylinder. 75% of this highly developed Moto Guzzi 1200 cc engine has been modified compared to its predecessor, to produce 110 HP at only 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 11 Kgm at 6400 rpm.

Touring

You can tell from a glance that the Norge 1200 GT is hungry for the open road. The fairing, for example, follows the lines of the bike like a natural extension. In fact, everything about the Norge 1200 GT is designed for total rider protection. The full fairing incorporates leg shields at the front and splash guards at the rear to keep you riding through even the worst weather. And to make sure that not even the cold will stop you, the Norge 1200 GT is fitted as standard with heated grips that offer you a choice of three temperature settings. The windshield deflects turbulence away from your torso, and can be manually adjusted to adapt the bike’s aerodynamic penetration to changing riding conditions.  The powerful headlight cluster features four polyelliptical units for excellent visibility even on unlit roads, and adds charisma to the bike’s front end. With its aggressive, almost feline look, the nose fairing achieves the perfect combination between form and function.  The dedicated panniers come in a matching colour finish, feature single key locking, and do not change the bike’s overall dimensions. There is even a 12 volt power socket for charging your mobile or operating other items of electronic equipment. These small but important details combine to show how much attention has been paid to functionality and rider wellbeing. And because the right equipment can transform even the shortest trip into an experience of Gran Turismo comfort and safety, the Norge 1200 GT is also fitted with an ABS braking system. Then we have the Stelvio. The Stelvio is a winding road immersed in the shadow of the Ortles Massif, with 84 hairpin bends reaching a height of 2,757 metres, linking Valtellina with Val Venosta. For motorcyclists, and other road-lovers, this road built in 1855 is a legendary route combining the difficulties of a winding mountain road with the beauty of nature, condensed into an extraordinary intense riding experience. For Moto Guzzi it’s a historical test bed, the ideal place to test different chassis setups, deceleration resistance and power, engine response, and suspension. A test bed where Mandello’s new creation, taking its first steps, immediately impressed riders thanks to the dynamic and fun handling. The bike was so impressive it seemed only natural to sum up the talent that went into the design and technical solutions of the new maxi enduro Moto Guzzi in the images and sensations of a place where riding pleasure is enriched by a sense of adventure, a sporting challenge, touring extreme: the Stelvio.
